Unico Hospital has launched a “Voluntary Blood Donation
Drive” to encourage voluntary blood donation and strengthen access to safe
blood for patients in need. The initiative aims to support life-saving
treatment during medical emergencies, surgeries, cancer care, and for patients
living with chronic conditions such as thalassemia.
The program was inaugurated by Past President Rtn. Ahsanul
Haq Chowdhury, FCA of the Rotary Club of Baridhara, who attended as the Chief
Guest. The event was also graced by Unico Hospital CEO Ardra Kurien, CMS Brig.
Gen. Dr. Sharif Ahmed, and Consultant Prof. Dr. Kazi Nawshad Hossain, along
with other distinguished guests.
During the program, the speakers highlighted the vital
importance of dedicated healthcare initiatives in ensuring timely access to
safe blood and blood components for patients requiring urgent and long-term
medical care. They also emphasized the role of voluntary blood donation in
building a more compassionate and responsible community.
The primary objective of the blood donation drive is to save
lives by collecting, screening, and supplying safe blood for medical
emergencies, surgeries, and chronic treatments. The campaign also promotes
regular voluntary donation, helps bridge the gap between demand and supply, and
raises public awareness about the importance of blood donation as a shared
social responsibility.
Unico Hospital remains committed to supporting patient care
through community-focused health initiatives and encouraging more people to
become regular voluntary blood donors.
At the conclusion of the welcome address, the voluntary
blood donation activities officially commenced, with members of the Rotary Club
actively participating as donors. The program concluded with an opportunity for
the guests and participants to visit and tour various departments of the
hospital.
