A Young Girl’s Journey from Pain to Recovery

An 18-year-old girl from Birampur, Dinajpur, has carried a long and difficult story of pain from a very young age. Her struggle began when she was in Class Five, and she suddenly developed severe lower back pain. The pain was so intense that she could neither sit nor lie down properly. In an emergency, she was taken to a doctor in Dinajpur, where she underwent an Appendix Surgery. After the operation, she recovered well and enjoyed several years of good health.

Nearly eight months ago, her life took another painful turn. She suddenly began suffering from severe pain in her breast and lower back, which gradually became unbearable. Her family rushed her to local doctors multiple times, hoping for relief, but despite repeated treatments, her condition did not improve. The continuous pain and uncertainty left both the young girl and her family physically exhausted and emotionally broken.

At this critical moment, following a relative’s (cousin) advice, they came to Unico Hospital, where she came under the care of Dr. Shanjidah Hoque, Consultant in General and Laparoscopic Surgery. After urgent investigations, doctors diagnosed her with Fibrocystic Breast Disease - a common, non-cancerous condition that can cause breast lumps, swelling, or tenderness due to hormonal changes. Although it is usually not dangerous, proper medical evaluation is important whenever a new lump appears. Based on her condition, appropriate medication was started promptly.

Meanwhile, her ongoing lower back pain - believed to be related to complications from her previous appendix surgery needed specialized care. Dr. Shanjidah Hoque referred her to Prof. Brig. Gen. (Retd.) Dr. R. U. Chowdhuary for further evaluation. She was admitted under day at care supervision, where after careful assessment, she received an Epidural Steroid injection - a treatment in which anti-inflammatory medicine is injected near the spine to reduce swelling and relieve severe nerve related back pain. The procedure successfully eased her pain.

Through accurate diagnosis, compassionate care, and timely medical intervention, the young girl showed remarkable recovery in a short time. Today, she is completely pain-free and has returned home with a smile, hope, and a new beginning.

The patient and her family express their deep gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to Unico Hospital for its dedicated care, professionalism, and humane approach to treatment. They sincerely pray for the continued success and growth of the hospital that brought healing and light into their lives when they needed it most.
