Mental trauma in early childhood, especially from relationships with close people, can have a huge impact on behavior and long-term mental health problems. The consultant was the founder and chairperson of the Neurodevelopmental Disability Protection Trustee Board. This is a government authority that was created and made official by the Neurodevelopmental Disability Act in 2013. Adult Psychiatry Services at Unico Hospital PLC

Our Adult Psychiatry department offers complete checkups and personalized treatment plans for a variety of mental health issues. Every assessment is done in a way that is sensitive, based on clinical expertise, and considers biological and psychosocial factors. 

Diagnostic Assessment Includes:

• Chief complaints (from both patient and key informants)

• Longitudinal psychosocial development history

• Academic and scholastic achievements

• Mental state examination (MSE)

• Family history of mental illness

• History of substance use and addiction

• Forensic or legal history (if applicable)

• Marital and interpersonal relationship assessment (in cases of conflict or disharmony)

Laboratory & Imaging Investigations

Where appropriate, we recommend:

• Neuroimaging (e.g., MRI, CT) for organic or neurodegenerative conditions

• Blood tests and other diagnostic evaluations

• DOPE Testing for suspected substance abuse cases

These investigations support accurate diagnosis and therapeutic planning, especially in cases involving geriatric, organic, or substance-induced psychiatric disorders.

Substance Abuse Assessment

A detailed and structured evaluation is performed to identify signs of substance dependency. This includes:

• Behavioral changes and drug-seeking patterns

• Peer pressure and lifestyle factors

• Academic failure, absenteeism, truancy

• Use of paraphernalia (found near bed or personal belongings)

• Habitual lying and concealment of activities

• Smoking and drug-use history

• Gathering collateral information from parents, peers, and siblings

• Reviewing academic records and behavioral reports

Substance abuse diagnosis is confirmed with clinical interviews, DOPE testing, and behavioral assessments. 

Psychometric Assessments

To quantify psychiatric symptoms and track treatment progress, we use psychometric tools that measure:

• Addiction severity

• Mood and anxiety levels

Listening chief Complaints from Key informant, General observation, asking questions to patient, eliciting signs with patient’s statements, taking longitudinal history from patient and informants, history of psychosocial developments, scholastics and academic achievements, history of presenting illness and past illness, family history of mental illness, neurodevelopmental disabilities, substance abuse and Alcoholism, suicide etc.

Mental state examination -Diagnosis and management planning includes prescription, further laboratory, imaging and psychometric assessments follow up instructions.
